Initiative & Learning
The workplace rewards people who take initiative — not recklessly, but wisely. Initiative shows that you see beyond your narrow task and that you care about improvement.

1. Do More Than the Minimum
If you see something that needs doing and it’s within reason, do it. Don’t wait to be asked for every small thing. Initiative builds trust.

2. Learn Proactively
Don’t just do your task — learn the system. Understand how your role connects with others. Ask questions that expand your knowledge. Every skill you learn is one less reason for the company to overlook you.

3. Seek Feedback
Initiative doesn’t mean guessing in the dark. Ask for feedback to make sure your extra effort is helpful. Over time, you’ll get better at knowing what’s valuable.

4. Show Curiosity
Curiosity is the fuel of growth. Ask “why?” not to be difficult, but to understand. People who understand systems eventually improve them.

Sidebar: The Builder
Builders don’t just do their jobs — they improve the job. They create smoother processes, share knowledge, and make things better than they found them. Every workplace needs Builders, but not every workplace deserves them. Be one anyway — you’ll carry those skills with you wherever you go.
